– In the summer there is a lot going on and
plenty of people, says manager Rebecca
Quiterio. But you’re welcome to come here in
the spring, autumn and winter as well. That
time of year, Sommarvik is a peaceful place
for recreation and leisure.
It is Saturday and summer is coming to an
end here on the campsite. Yet there is plenty
of activity in and around the reception,
restaurant and outdoor pool area. That the
temperature in the air is dropping more and
more every weekend does not bother the
children and teens who would rather go for a
swim in the pool than the lake.
– This weekend we also have two
orchestras from Oslo here, Rebecca informs
us. It’s been a tradition for 30 years that
they come to Sommarvik on camp when the
autumn term begins in the schools.
The 70 members of the larger orchestra
are staying on the campsite but have their
rehearsal hall in the centre of Årjäng. The
other group, which has younger and slightly
fewer members, practises in the building
that is designed for children’s activities in
the summer.
– We’re a campsite that stays open all
year round and it’s great that so many
school classes, organisations, companies
and associations have discovered that
Sommarvik has so much to offer, she
continues. Along with our partners, we can
put together the perfect activity package to
meet the wishes of each group.
205 of the camping pitches can be rented
on a seasonal basis, for the summer or
winter.
– Our Norwegian guests like to make
use of their caravans even during the off
season, Rebecca points out. Årjäng is
only 120 kilometres from Oslo and 30
kilometres from the border on Road E18.
Sommarvik is
what would be called a
“resort” in other places around Europe.
