Nature guide Erik Daleweij is also from
Holland and knows what European
tourists want to experience when they
come to Scandinavia. Here you will find
unspoiled surroundings, the houses are few
and far between, and you will have every
opportunity to go on unique adventures.
– This suits both families with children
and couples who want to experience
something out of the ordinary, he says.
Each day this week offers a new adventure.
Over the years in Värmland, he has built
an important network of partners. One day
you get to meet a whole team of friendly
husky dogs, willing to pull. Their eagerness
to take guests for a ride is unstoppable. The
ride is fast and fun. Thereafter the activities
follow one after another. Klarälvbanan
B&B serves as the base, and breakfast is
served.
The winter week also
includes an
overnight stay in a tepee tent. It is in the
small village of tents by the waterside out in
the wilderness that we meet the Verschoor
Putters family. One of the tents is slightly
bigger than the others. This is where Erik
does all the cooking, and those who wish
can come inside at any time to warm their
hands and feet, or enjoy a hot cup of coffee
or warm cocoa.
They arrived here on snowmobiles
the day before. Adults can drive on their
own after a few instructions, a bit of
practice and an introduction to the safety
regulations. The children get to be pulled
along behind, to their great delight.
The journey took about an hour and
went straight up the mountain from the
valley, into the big pine forest and across
the magically vast bogs that are so special
here in Northern Värmland.
– We made these holes yesterday, says
Nico, who is going ice fishing with his sons
Miro and Rodin. But we guess it’s been
cold as a five-centimetre thick cover of ice
has appeared overnight.
– I had to put more logs on the fire
during the night. But we’ve kept warm in
our beds, with sleeping bags and reindeer
skins to sleep on. It’s the first time we’ve

adventure
I had to put more logs on the fire during the night. But we’ve
kept warm in our beds, with sleeping bags and reindeer
skins to sleep on. It’s the first time we’ve done something
like this. We’ve skied before, but now we get to try many
different types of winter activities.
