downhill skiing and tobogganing. As the
two activities are kept separate from one
another there’s no risk of collision.
Budor has many regulars
. At the
campsite, 90 per cent of the caravans stay
parked all year round and are fitted with
creative and well-equipped caravan tents.
If you book in advance there are a few slots
reserved for non-regulars.
There are, however, many cabins availa-
ble and self-catering accommodation can be
found at the guesthouse. More cabins are
built every year on the hillsides. This means
that you can choose the standard and price
range that suit your needs and budget.
– All cabins are built facing south and
most of them have a great view of the
valley. When the weather is clear you can
see all the way to Lake Mjøsa.
The restaurant at Budor Gjestegård
has a new chef and offers many different
dishes. For those who wish to be relieved of
cooking duties during their stay, both lunch
and dinner can be ordered. A cup of coffee
and a snack is available when a break from
winter activities is needed.
– We also take bookings for family
gatherings like weddings, birthdays and
confirmations, as well as meetings and con-
ferences for companies and organisations.
Many sport associations want to come here
for their training camps. The snow arrives
early in the season and stays for a long
time. We can offer full board for up to a
hundred people.
Ola Bostad takes us on a walk, reaching
a stretch of woodland. Small houses that
have gone grey over time are nestled next
to a little pond. They are embedded in their
surroundings, a thick layer of snow on the
roofs.
– Here we have our log cabins, he says.
They have been transported from other
places in Hedmark and now function as
our more basic accommodation here at
Budor. You get a paraffin lamp and a bag of
firewood – then you’re ready to move in.
