Quality Hotel Selma Lagerlöf: A hotel in complete harmony with the Värmland
landscape, history and culture. Light and airy rooms and suites. Restaurant with
high-quality food and a breathtaking view of Lake Fryken. Excellent conference facilities.
Pub, nightclub and entertainment. Nearby golf course. Beautiful surroundings for
outdoor activities like canoeing, hunting and climbing. Sunne offers a lot of culture, e.g.
Mårbacka Memorial Estate on the other side of the lake.
booked over midsummer. It’s an experience
to celebrate it the traditional way at one of the
vibrant heritage centres in the area.
Åsa and Malin also recommend the
Culture Week in Sunne. Across eight days in
August, a total of 60 or so activities are on the
agenda.
– We’re one of the founders of the event,
says Åsa. It’s a festival of cultural character.
Many of the visitors travel far to get here and
come back every year. The Culture Week in
Sunne is the largest of its kind in Sweden,
you won’t find this much culture in one week
anywhere else. Definitely one of the highlights
of the year for culture enthusiasts!
The Västanå TheatRE
attracts large crowds
to Berättarladan (the Storyteller Barn)
in Rottneros – over 20,000 people every
summer. The theatre’s renowned storytelling
technique, costumes, dance and music
means the demand for tickets increases
every year.
– You can book a theatre package with us,
including both accommodation and theatre
tickets, says Malin. And why not grab the
opportunity to fill your stay here in Sunne
with even more activities and outings?
Entertainment can also be found at the
hotel. In the autumn, the main conference
hall, Gösta Berling, is turned into a theatre
with shows on Fridays and Saturdays.
– We give you farce! Prepare yourself for
three and a half hours of laughter therapy,
says Åsa. Our theatre and entertainment
weekends are very popular. The final shows of
the year come with our traditional Christmas
buffet, and then Wallmans salonger takes over
with an action-packed cabaret.
The food is one of the most important
ingredients for an enjoyable stay. Ever since
the start, Hotel Selma Lagerlöf has placed
great emphasis on high-quality food. The
restaurant is certified in accordance with
Krav* and much of the produce comes from
small scale producers in the local area.
Lunch is served on days and weekends
when there are conference guests at the hotel.
The lunch buffet today offers three main
courses, one of which is vegetarian. Smoked
pork with coconut, Skåne beef stew and quorn
fillet. The cold buffet is full of vegetables,
cured meats and fruit. For dessert there is
homemade raspberry panna cotta.
The relaxation area on the ground floor
has direct access to the lawn. Many guests
take the opportunity to go for a morning
swim before breakfast. It is also nice to relax
in the pool area after a day of activities.
* Krav certified products are in line with ecologically
sustainable agriculture.
