Gallery of new
experiences
Right in the centre of
Elverum, art gallery owner
Pirjo Birgitta Mursu
continually offers new
experiences to her visitors.
Oils, watercolours, prints, glass art,
ceramics and sculptures. Elverum Art
Gallery has room for many different art
forms.
– I like collaborating both with my
professional artists, publishers and other
institutions. When one project ends another
one begins, some go on for years.
Approximately 40 artists are represented
in Elverum Art Gallery. The art can be
bought in the gallery, but also via an online
web shop. One of the most talked about
and sought after artists at the moment is
Björg Thorhallsdottir. She was born in
Iceland and came to Norway as a child.
Her etchings are a mix of texts, thoughts
and images.
– I dare say that she is the best-selling
graphic artist we have in Norway today,
says Pirjo Birgitta Mursu. Her message is
simple and straightforward without being
trite.
Elverum Art Gallery also encourages
interactivity.
– We regularly organise courses and
other events. You can always find a list
of what’s happening on our website. Our
visitors come both from within the region
and other parts of Norway and Sweden.

Visit Elverum: The Visit Elverum Region is a joint venture between the three municipalities Elverum, Våler
and Åmot. Here are a few tips on places to visit and activities to get up to in the region.
In Våler you will find Vålerbanen, an arena offering speed and thrills with racing, off-road and go-karts all
year round. Gravberget Church is also located here and has been named one of the ten most unique church
buildings in the world by Life.
Elverum is a cultural city and home to the Norwegian Forest Museum, which focuses on forestry, hunting,
trapping and lake fishing. More than 110,000 visitors come here every year, making it one of the most popular
museums in Norway. In Elverum you will also find the Glomdal Museum with a beautiful location by the shores
of the River Glomma. The outdoor museum has more than 90 historical buildings and a permanent exhibition
about the culture and history of the Romani people in Norway.
If you enjoy high quality fishing, Åmot is the place to visit. The area offers great opportunities to both
families and the more experienced angler. Søndre Rena is the most well-known watercourse. You will also
find good fishing in the rivers Glomma, Søre Osa, Julussa and Åsta.
Trysil: Trysil is largest ski resort in Norway with 31 lifts, 66 runs and more than 500 kilometres of prepared
tracks for cross-country skiing. In the summer, Trysil is transformed into nature’s fun park. Rafting, nice and
easy hikes on the mountain, off-road cycling, fishing and horse riding are suitable outdoor activities for the
whole family. Here you will find accommodation suited to all needs and budgets. Check in to a resort hotel with
spa and bowling, or book your own cabin or apartment. There are also several campsites. The Trysil Festival in
June offers musical experiences, the bike race Trysilrittet in July gets the whole family into the saddle and the
Trysil Cup in August welcomes all football clubs. In September you can take part in Trysilrypa – a race on the
mountain for girls only, usually attracting more than 4,000 runners.
The Hamar region: With a stable climate, varied scenary, rich cultural heritage and wide variety of activities,
the Hamar region offers activities all year round. The location between the largest lake in Norway, Lake Mjøsa,
and the wide reaching mountains makes for great hiking, cycling, golf, fishing, horse riding and both downhill
and cross-country skiing. The Hamar region is also the right place for those who are looking for the good life
defined by quality and culinary traditions. Here you will find many Norwegian country estates with welcoming
hosts. Meals characterised by local traditions and cooked from scratch are a given in these parts. You can
get here easily by car, bus or train. The international Oslo airport, Gardermoen, is only 50 minutes away.
