A guided tour
with Bengt Sahlström is
an experience in itself. The story takes
different turns depending on who or what
type of group is standing in front of him.
– I quickly get a feel for what that
particular group likes to hear, he says.
What they find entertaining and what
awakens that special interest. I have many
anecdotes and try to share them at the
right moment.
The white farmhouse was built in 1885.
With a cautious hand, Bengt and Ann
Katrin Sahlström have prepared the house
for new visitors. The walls carry a lot of
traces from the artists who used to stay
here and who left or gave their work to the
family as a gift of gratitude.
– I usually start by gathering the visi-
tors in here, says Bengt Sahlström. I talk
about why these particular paintings have
ended up here and bring life to the people
behind the works. And there is always
more to discover here. It is incredibly
exciting.
Just in time for Midsummer 2010, the
new hotel was opened at Sahlströmsgården.
There are now 30 double rooms, all with a
personal feel, for today’s guests who wish
to enjoy the same atmosphere as the great
artists of the last century.
