We ride through the woods, along the tree
line, across bogs, up in the mountains and
alongside lakes and streams.
The most popular activity
in the winter
is the sleigh rides. The close proximity to
Trysil and Trysilfjellet, one of the biggest
mountain destinations in Norway, helps
guests to find their way here. More and
more people from the big cities around
Europe look for activities in unspoiled
wilderness. Snow, cold weather and winter
darkness is exotic and it is getting harder
and harder to find.
At least once a week, there is a special
family ride.
– You can sign up on our website,
but we also work closely with the tourist
office and several hotels and cabin rentals
who can help you. The family rides are
popular and make for a nice change on
your skiing trip.
– Many of our guests often liken the
sleigh ride to an adventure in the fairyland
of Narnia, says Svein. Burning torches,
the sound of ringing bells, reindeer skins
to keep you warm and a night sky lit
with stars give the ride a magical feel.

which connects Norway
and Sweden in line
with Trysil and Sälen.
Horse riding (two-hour,
half-day or full-day
rides), riding lessons
and riding camps during
the snow-free seasons.
Sleigh rides in the winter.
Accommodation in
basic cabins. 15 horses,
mainly Scandinavian
breeds. For families,
groups, companies or
individual guests. Book
online, via the tourist
office in Trysil or one of
the tourist centres.
Sometimes there can be up to six horses
with sleighs.
The ride stops at a large tepee tent
(in Sami: lavvu) with room for 50 people.
It is lovely to step into the warm tent after
the sleigh ride. The tepee is heated by a
fire burning in the middle. Around the
fire, tables have been laid.
– We serve a homemade, rich moose
stew, he continues. We have a licence and
those who wish can have a beer, a glass
of wine or a schnapps with their dinner.
Children can even grill sausages over the
open fire if they want to.
