The inn Milepelen Vertshus
enjoys a scenic location
which catches the afternoon
sun and overlooks the River
Sandsåa.
This is a popular place to stop for those
travelling along Road 24 between Skarnes
and Hamar. Delicious home-made meals
and the chance to take a break in beautiful
surroundings attract thousands of visitors
every year.
– We have many returning guests, says
Rita Nesset, who runs the business. We
cook everything from scratch with the best
produce. At the same time we offer good
service and a friendly atmosphere where
people feel welcome.
Proof that Milepelen Vertshus
is
well liked among guests is the Ganefart
Award – an award given to eateries along
the road which focus on the cuisine and
history of the local area. It is awarded by an
anonymous jury who travel around, tasting
food and assessing the different restaurants.
– They look at the menu, quality,
price and how you treat your guests, says
Rita. I’m very proud of the work that my
colleagues carry out here at Milepelen.
This part of Hedmark
is well worth
a visit for those who enjoy touring on
cross-country skis and exploring beautiful
surroundings. It makes for a pleasant stop
during a Sunday outing around
Lake Storsjøen.
– The area is perfect for hiking,
cycling, fishing, hunting and skiing.
We’re happy to suggest various routes.
Adjacent to Milepelen Vertshus, there
are eight motel rooms, as well as a library
and a gallery. The cinema facility fulfils
various functions and can be turned into
a banquet hall.
– It’s a popular place for family
celebrations – weddings, birthdays,
christenings, memorials and confirmations.
Companies, groups and associations are
also welcome here for both small and large
meetings.
