– Making use of the great food supply
that nature has to offer is what drives
me. Neither I, nor my female hunting
companions put a lot of emphasis on a
potential trophy. For us, hunting rests on a
different set of values.
More and more women
want to hunt, get
training and a licence. However, in the
predominantly male hunting parties they
soon discover that they are not a part of
the community. It is not a given that you
will be welcomed into the male-dominated
world that hunting often is.
– There are 8,500 active women
hunters in Norway today, says Ole Erik.
The number of women who pass the
hunting test is steadily increasing. But then
they fall off the chart when they can’t find
