The property Øvre Sjøli Gård is one of
the largest in Norway. 8,500 hectares,
with farmland along the valley down
towards the lake, as well as untouched
wilderness with woods and bogs opening
up towards the bare mountain landscape.
Laila’s husband, Ole Erik Sjøli, belongs
to the fourteenth generation here at the
estate, if not the fifteenth.
– Our ambition is to continue building
the business and allow for the development
to be characterised by a green and modern
spirit, he says. All the experience, education
and knowledge that we’ve gained in life so
far are useful to us now and we want to
share it with our guests.
– Hunting is so much more than
shooting game, Laila continues. We want
