In the late afternoon more friends join
in, perhaps coming directly from a boat trip
or a day at the beach. Together you share a
drink and stave off your hunger with a light
dish from the à la carte menu.
– During the summer, we offer live music
three nights a week, Andreas continues. On
Saturdays we have performances on both the
large and the small stage. We mix it up a lot
and offer many different styles of music.
Most of the guests come from Arvika,
the rest of Värmland and Norway. After 13
years, Olssons Brygga is a popular place to
visit, especially during the warmer months
of the year. But more and more visitors from
further afield find their way here. Germans,
Dutch and Danes who come to Värmland on
their holidays to enjoy the outdoors are also
looking for entertainment and good food.
Entrecôte, steak, spareribs, rack of lamb.
– We have become known for our
grilled meats and have invested in a unique
charcoal grill that is used in a closed
system, says Mattias. This brand is only
available in a few places in Sweden and is
very energy efficient. The charcoal is made
out of a special type of wood and comes
from Argentina. The taste is amazing!
Wednesdays are
shrimp evenings.
– The idea is simple. Come as you are –
eat as much as you want. These evenings
have become hugely popular, they’re a very
good reason to go out. We’re always full. If
you don’t like seafood there’s still the usual
evening menu to choose from.
The fish is also popular.
– Where ever possible, we try to use fish
from the local area, says Andreas. Zander
from Lake Vänern has always been on the
menu. Char is becoming more and more
popular. Sometimes we get hold of perch,
and minced pike has come as a nice surprise
to many of our guests.
