together. Then just as the first guests arrive
at midday, the bread comes fresh out of the
oven, is sliced and served while still warm.
The history of Skaslien Gjestgiveri goes
way back in time. Ottar’s grandmother,
Kirsten Skaslien, bought a small farm here
in 1942. She began offering lodging and
board on a small scale to travelling sales-
men and others who travelled the roads. In
1952, her son Olvar returned home after
many years in the whaling industry, mar-
ried Åse and together they got involved in
the business and began expanding the inn.
In 1983, the next generation – Ottar and
his brother Morten came back to Skaslien.
This is when the eatery that we find here
today was founded, with a business idea
and an offering based on high quality.
