– It’s nice that more and more guests
with disabilities find their way here, even
when there’s no special event on, says Ole.
There are also other places in Femund
Engerdal which are adapting to increase
accessibility, which benefits everyone who
works in the area.
The early riser
can go for a walk up the
mountain before breakfast. The reward
is a truly remarkable sunrise in the east.
Johnsgård is situated 715 metres above
sea level and you only have to walk for 20
minutes up Gloføkkampen before the vast
expanses open up with several lakes in full
view.
Afterwards you can fill the rest of your
day with some of your favourite activities.
Relax on one of the gorgeous beaches, have
fun by the water, go fishing, head out on a
canoe trip or go on a hike along one of the
trails up Gloføken, a mountain ridge with
several peaks.
– We also have River Tufsingelva, a
nature reserve with a river delta rich in
birdlife by Lake Femund, says Grete. The
area is more or less unexplored; there aren’t
many people who come here.
The third weekend in August is
dedicated to Sømådalsopplevelser, an Irish-
Norwegian-Swedish folk music festival
attracting up to 300 visitors to Johnsgård
each night.
– It is an extraordinary musical
experience, impossible to put into words.
You have to be there!
Autumn in Femund Engerdal is usually
nice and crisp.
– The mosquitos are gone and the air is
clean and clear, she continues. That time
of year you come here to fill up on energy
from top to toe. Autumn is also hunting
season.
