The Boeier
Join us on a cruise in the Lake Vänern archipelago
together with Ole Enöga the pirate, captain Romgrogg
and the rest of the crew onboard Christine af Bro.
There are rumours of a treasure outside Saxholmen
Island and we’re going to find it!
Christine af Bro is a modern boeier,
the same type of sailing vessel that was
used to ship iron from the Bergslagen
mining district of Kristinehamn down
to Vänersborg in southern Lake Vänern.
The ship is a Dutch design and resembles
the vessels used in the shallow canals in
Holland and Flanders.
– The adventure tour is for the children,
says Bo Wennström, CEO at Rederiak-
tiebolaget Bojorten and chairman in the
association Christine af Bro. We can take
a total of 55 passengers.
Besides offering a pirate
adventure
for children, the boeier regularly takes
passengers on traditional cruises in the
archipelago. She is 29.5 meters long,
including the bowsprit, and made out of
wood – oak, pine, larch, juniper, elm, ash
and spruce.
Chartering the ship for various events is
popular among companies, school classes
and associations.
Ship ahoy, children. Suddenly Ole Enöga
appears.
– Hey guys, there’s a myth saying that
pirates don’t exist. But what am I then?
Living proof that it’s all wrong!
He hands out treasure maps to the
younger passengers.
– I’ve heard there’s a treasure at the
bottom of the lake next to Saxholmen, he
calls out. I need your help!
Most of them take the adventure very
seriously, sporting handkerchiefs around
their heads and black patches over one
eye, striped jumpers and torn half-length
trousers. And life jackets!
Ship ahoy!
The Boeier,
Kristinehamn
